Humans walk underwater!!

Here is another RANDOM post. While I was browsing one of my daily video sites I came across this cool video. Apparently in Japan they have invented a fake pool; with a way of walking under water. The economy must be doing pretty well over there...wouldn't you say?

Anywho, I think I have figured out the trick... Check out the video below and tell me what you think.

Madea Goes To Jail the Movie.

Tyler Perry is up to it again...Madea Goes To Jail is set to hit movie theaters next Spring. I tried to upload the link, but no luck...here's the link.

Madea Goes to Jail

What do you think? release

Questions for Thought.

Sometime ago I posted a topic called Questions for Thought. I stated I was going to post my randomness every week, but I fell behind. Feedback is always welcome.

Why when a citizen is shot it is called MURDER, but when a politician or anyone with status is shot it's called ASSASSINATION?

Will Sister Souljah do it again?

Recently, there has been a buzz in the urban community about the upcoming release of Sister Souljah's sequel to the hit seller The Coldest Winter Ever . The first novel gave me insight on a young woman's struggle to survive in the streets of New York. The sequel is from a males point of view; one of the characters called Midnight whom the young women(Winter Santiga) chases around for 3/4 of the book. However, it was still excellent page turner and I would recommend anyone to read it at least once in their lifetime.

I'm sure the sequel will be a great read or let's hope so at least.

Why Blog??

In my first post I stated why I blog. I said something to the like of “Maintaining this blog will provide me with new challenges and networking opportunities. I will share my stories, challenges and little known secrets; along with an eclectic mixture of Journalism”. Today, a friend of mine asked me (you can find her at Alease Michelle)…Why Blog? Why should anyone blog?, but more importantly Why should a fashion student blog?

Well, after a brief search on my trusty pal Google; I found an individual that goes by the name of Richard Bejtlich. I found his answers interesting ant this is what he had to say,

-Blogging organizes thoughts.
-Blogging captures and shares thoughts.
-Blogging facilitates public self-expression.
-Blogging establishes communities.
-Blogging can contribute original knowledge faster than any other medium.

I thought his answer where pretty to the point…don’t you? This response can go for anyone who likes to post daily, weekly or even monthly entries; I believe we all can relate. SO, a fashion student would fall inside those boundaries.

However, the purpose of a blog is needed. Blogging is a form of marketing so I see it as a product. For instance, when I first set-up my blog a subject was needed. I choose to be eclectic hence “The eclectic life of a college student”. I also wanted my reader to know me on a personal level hence about me page and a various dairy entry. Next, I set goals for myself to post at least twice a month, however events held me from sticking to them.

I have one more blog I would like to share. On another search performed on Google came across a blog titled I am Fashion. This blog allows fashion students from anywhere to post about random fashion thoughts. I found this pretty interesting considering it's all about fashion. I’m not too sure how you access entry to post, but I will further my research share it with you later.

Fall Trend: Collar's Standing

On the runways’ this season older fashion statements grace the runways once again. Elder statements such as the high hems of flood pants, turtlenecks invented in the 19th century, marble (yes marble) inspired designs, and collars that stand on their own.

In the past it was one of the worst fashion statements, but today it is known as fall 2008 hottest fashion trend. Trendsetter designers Gianfranco Ferre, Neil Barrett, Etro, and Yves Saint Laurent stiffened collars with light fabrics, while iconic designers Emporio Armani and Louis Vuitton said heaver fabrics will do. I don't know about you, but I think these collars deserves a standing ovation.

I believe in art.

I just felt like writing something.....

Zigzagging, jotting, dotting, and cross crossing is a form of self- expression. I am able to express myself loosely without any restraints, besides an occasional brain freeze.

My lines form a variation of letters that make-up sentences. These sentences tell my story, which depicts my message. My image. My vision. My point.

When I was an adolescent, I wrote poems expressing my feelings. I used descriptive words such as mad, glad, happy, and sad. My voice was limited along with a pocket-sized vocabulary. But eventually, the words became idiosyncratic, energetic, exultant, and triumphant.

My knowledge of the English language has matured; I am able to turn extended sentences into remote statements, such as:

I believe in the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.

-into-

I believe in art.

Kierra Bell

I was browsing one of my daily sites; when I came across this video "Monica Conyers debates school children about her conduct". I see a bright future in law for this young lady.

"I commend her for being able to hold her own and voice her opinion gracefully, tactfully, INTELLIGENTLY, and clearly. She articulated herself very well with poise and confidence. She refused to back down to Ms. Conyers in the face her (quite apparent) mounting rage and disdain."

I totally agree.

Vogue's Buzz

By: Joseph Jordan

Lately, there has been a buzz in certain communities about LeBron James and Giselle Buchen gracing the cover of Vogues March issue. It has been stated that LeBron displays a Gorilla like pose(baring his teeth). Some have even took it as far as saying, "he depicts the image of a dangerous black man".

"What does a dangerous black man look like? "

LeBron is simply showing emotion. The exact emotion he would show playing offense in a game. Some feel black men are given a bad image on magazine covers, while the Caucasian male is always seen smiling or gleefully laughing.

I wonder how the community would have felt if; LeBron (African American), was replaced with Luc Longley (Caucasian); then Giselle (Brazilian), replaced with Tyra Banks (African American). Would people feel the same way? Would Longley be depicted as the modern day image of a dangerous white man? -and Tyra as a helpless woman.

What if LeBron and Giselle appeared on the cover of Vibe or Ebony? Would the "Gorilla" pose still be a problem? Would the magazines target markets make a difference?

Barack Obama floats??

Today, at The Art Institute of Charlotte, Barack Obama was seen floating in a lake behind the school. Sounds weird doesn’t it… A poster size board around the measurements of 20” x 30” was sitting like a duck meditating in the middle of gleaming black lake. The contrast was excellent; along with use of a single verb. ACTION!

“I’m asking you to believe. Not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington… I’m asking you to believe in yours.”

-Barack Obama

Questions for Thought.

Throughout, the week I ask myself random questions. Depending on the situation determines whether it’s rhetorical or needs an answer. Every week I will post some of my randomness. Feedback is always welcomed.

Why is they word diet so strongly associated with losing weight; when Merriam-Webster defines it as “food and drink regularly provided or consume”.

Why are certain individuals able to be tickled, but cannot tickle themselves?

Why are some labeled as African Americans, if they have never stepped foot in Africa?

Why are certain neighborhoods considered gated-in communities; when there are only gates located in the front and back for entry/departing?

Why is the government (ICE) projected to spend 135 million this year to force immigration laws; when the economy is in a boom?

If French fries on your Ad; why do you not sell them?

Why do telemarketers continue to speak, after being told NO three times?

Why are you able to purchase a gun at 14yrs in Montana, but un-legal until turning 18yrs?

Valentino Garavani

By: Joseph Jordan

“Elegance is the balance between proportion, emotion, and surprise.”

-Valentino

After two decades of elegance, fine simplicity and all-out glamour Valentino Garavani says goodbye to the fashion industry. On January 23, 2008 the last fashion show was held at the Musèe Rodin in France. There where over 900 guest including everyone from Uma Thurman to Cladia Schiffer to witness Valentino’s signature runway.

Since the opening of his fashion house in 1959 Valentino has dominated the ready-to-wear and couture market. He has won countless awards from the 1967 Neiman Marcus Award to Lifetime Achievment Award in 2000. His precisely tailored suits and elegant evening dresses noted him to be one of the greatest designers of our time.

The opening of the show featured model Natalia Vodianova, who seemed to float down the runway in a loose pink tunic and gleeful floral skirt, topped off with a big retro bow of a chapeau. Through the entire show earth tones and basic and pastel colors where worn down the runway. The creativity of the garments shown through paisley embellishments, fringe and outlines of lace.

Valentino’s Grand Goodbye, says, “When he took that last walk down the runway after a 45-year run at fashion’s highest reaches, he maintained his composure as his audience jumped to it’s collective feet in wild appreciation”. Valentino is know for his signature “Valentino Red”. The finale of the show featured a sea of “Valentino Red” silk evening dresses outlined the silhouette of every model. Backstage, all you could hear was the clinging of flutes of Champagne. In the room, full of tears Valentino told interviewers “I’m Happy”.

Reminiscence.

Okay….. So, i’m sitting in the car; thinking about my ex behalf. I’m sure you can relate if you have been involved in a “serious” relationship that suddenly went sour. They say past experience will prepare an individual for the future, but how many more experiences will I have to go through? Feedback is welcome. Here is even one of my diary entries; enjoy:

Sweet Bitter

Can you cheat on an individual, if you truly say you’re in love with them? A new beginning; recently out of a relationship. It’s hard to move on, but I know it’s possible. This was my first long distance relationship; so there were trust, physical, and mental issues involved. When given doubt you ask questions (to the point to where I was “naggin”). But, you know what hurts the most. When you actually find out the imformation denied was the truth all along (plus more).

Since the relationship is a part of the past. Should I still ask questions? Should I care? Should I cry, again? It hurts, but im beginning to cheer up. I want to blame myself for various reasons (no physical activity, long distance, distance feelings). But, I was always told ” Changing someone is impossible; when they tell who they are -believe them-”. It has taken me some time, but that truly is true.

It has only been a day since the break-up(i’m so strong). I cried yesterday; uncontrollably. The tears I have been holding back for so long. A build up of anger mixed with mental emotions that had to be released. I feel so much better.

Im not going to say, I will never love again. Who am I to say what my future holds in relationships. That part of life is unpredictable. I still have respect, feelings, and love for *****. We will remain friends for as long as possible, because I can never be bitter.

Never Bitter,
